The design was derived from the decision, that OPA_TAD should be a central platfrom. Hence it was necessary to ensure flexible scalability. Therefore Hadoop was chosen as a underlying Big Data infrastructure, combined with HBase, a mature database following the Big table metaphor we need for supporting various different types of data. In order to scale the interface, we implemented an efficient, Spring Boot based server. The server can be executed multiple times in parallel to support scaling and increase the bandwidth between cluster and internet. All traffic must go through the edge server as the Big Data cluster itself is shielded by a second firewall, that's placed behind the Edge Server who is already protected by a first line of defense fire wall.
